What does it mean to be Born Again?
Jesus said unless ,we are born again, we cannot enter the
Kingdom of God.
“Jesus answered and
said unto him: ‘Verily, verify, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he
cannot see the kingdom of God.’” – John 3:3
So in order to be a part of God’s Kingdom, we need to be
born again. But what does it mean to be born again, and who can be born again?
The Bible gives us the answer.
Turn to 1 Corinthians chapter 6 and read verses 6 to 9.
“Know yet not that the
unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither
fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves
No thieves, nor
covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the
kingdom of God.
“And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified,
but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus.”
After mentioning types of people who will not inherit God’s
Kingdom, the Bible says some of us were actually like that; but that we were
washed and sanctified in the name of the Lord Jesus; hence being qualified to
be a part of the kingdom of God. So now we begin to see the meaning of being
born again. It means being washed,
sanctified and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Look also the following
“Therefore if any man
be in Christ, he is a new creature;
old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.”—2 Corinthians
Now, who can get born again?
Let’s look at John 3:16-18:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten
Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting
“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the
world; but that the world through him might be saved.
“He that believeth on
him is not condemned; but he that believeth not to condemn already, because
he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
The bible say plainly, he who believes in the Son. So anyone
who believes in Jesus Christ and allows himself to be washed and justified in
the name of Jesus can be born again. So any of us can be born again.
When we look at revelation chapter 7, we see a great crowd
that come of the great tribulation and find themselves standing before the
throne. Notice what the Bible says about these people:
“And I said unto him,
Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of the
great tribulation, and have washed their
robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”--Revelation 7:14
Yes, the great multitude which no man can number are born
again! They are in the Kingdom of God where God himself will look after them. “They shall hunger no more, neither thirst
anymore; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.” –Revelation 7:16.
